I’m getting a puppy - for real this time!

Thursday, May 18th, 2006

So our first puppy didn’t pan out.  The litter was born on Sunday, but there was only one female and we were second on the list.  But - Blake found another breeder who had some puppies!  They are 3 weeks old and will be ready to fly on June 10th.  I’m freaking excited.

This puppy will be black instead of chocolate, but honestly I feel better about giving a home to an already born puppy instead of waiting on another litter.  Otherwise she might end up in a bad house or at a shelter.  Still working out the details of when to fly her to Dallas, but it will either be June 10th or June 17th.  I can’t wait!  I have puppy on the brain (and I’m driving Blake nuts with it).

Jessica’s Wedding

Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006

Blake and I spent last weekend in the windy, dusty city of Lubbock. Why would we go there when its not football season? For a wedding of course! My fabulous friends Jessica and Michael tied the knot and I could not be happier for the two of them. They are truly a perfect match!

The wedding was beautiful. The ceremony was held at First Christian Church on Broadway, which is possibly the longest aisle in the city. Thanks to Jessica for letting the bridesmaids be escorted down this aisle by the groomsmen, it would have been a really long walk with a bunch of strangers staring at us otherwise! The reception was held in the Watson building on 13th street. Jessica’s family and a friend Amanda did the majority of the decorating and the place was transformed from a good space to an intimate room with candles, mirrors, a fountain and some great centerpieces. The chocolate fountain was a big hit with the guests, and Blake has now decided he wants one of those at our wedding!

Most of the guests spent the evening dancing and getting caught up with one another, but my favorite part of the evening was Jessica and Michael’s first dance. You could tell that they were truly happy to be married and be surrounded by the family and friends that they love!
